Proterovaginoceras belemnitiforme

A medium-large Endoceratid (or Orthocone) from the Middle Ordovician. Fossils of Proterovaginoceras are known through Europe and the Middle East. Like other Endoceratids, it would have been one of the apex predators on Earth during the Ordovician, with some like Endoceras growing to even larger sizes.
